“When you travel don’t feel small, protect your rights: You have the Authority to do it”
ART’s communication campaign on passengers’ rights
The campaign focuses on the rights of passengers travelling by rail, bus & coach, and ship, and on the activities carried out by the Transport Regulation Authority to protect these rights.
“Rights of passengers when travelling by rail”
“Rights of passengers when travelling by bus & coach”
“Rights of passengers when travelling by ship”
The campaign is intended for all citizens and is primarily targeted to passengers travelling by rail, medium- and long-distance bus & coach, maritime and inland waterways, with a special focus on passengers with disabilities or reduced mobility (PRM).
The campaign is aimed at:
The campaign is part of the public-interest communication initiatives of the Prime Minister’s Office.
The programming on RAI networks was scheduled close to the departing dates for the 2021 summer holidays: from 17 to 31 July 2021. At the same time, the campaign was launched on ART’s website and social channels (Twitter, LinkedIn and YouTube).
In the event of disservices, passengers wishing to lodge a complaint shall in the first place contact the transport company. If the latter does not react or reacts in an unsatisfactory manner, passengers may file their complaint to the Transport Regulation Authority.
An original and effective concept was chosen for TV spots to be able to capture the viewers’ attention and arouse their interest in deepening their awareness of passengers’ rights.
For this purpose, it was decided to portray an allegorical world in which passenger children, unaware of their rights when facing problematic travel situations, discover that they have the “authority“ to protect themselves and be protected.
That’s why the campaign claim reads: “When you travel, don’t feel small. Protect your rights: You have the Authority to do it.”
The three radio spots also inform citizens of their specific rights, through examples of real travel problems that are commonly encountered by passengers when travelling by rail, bus & coach, and ship.
Beginning in September, the communication campaign will be enriched with three video-tutorials, one for each mode of transport (by rail, bus & coach, and ship), to provide detailed information on the specific protections provided for by the existing legislation and the modalities to request the checks and intervention, if any, of the Authority to protect passengers’ rights.
The video-tutorials will be made available on the Authority‘s website and on ART’s social channels.
The TV and Radio spots were implemented in collaboration with the agency “Gruppo Creativo Multimedia”.
