Alessio Quaranta was born in Rome in 1965.
He is married with two sons.
Graduated in Law, he has a Postgraduate Specialization Degree in Public Administration and has attended several further training courses on legal areas. From 2009 to 2025, He was the Director General at ENAC (Italian Civil Aviation Authority).
During the Triennial Session of the European Civil Aviation Conference (ECAC) on July 12, 2021, he was elected President of ECAC and re-elected for a second term in July 2024. He currently holds the following positions in key international civil aviation organizations: Focal Point for External Relations on the ECAC Coordination Committee; President of EATEO (European Association of Aviation Training and Education Organizations); member of the EUROCONTROL Bureau; Head of the European Delegation to the General Assembly of the International Civil Aviation Organization at the last 42nd ICAO Assembly (Montreal, September-October 2025); Head of the Italian delegation at high-level meetings, international negotiations, and bilateral negotiations for air traffic agreements signed by Italy.
He has held various positions in the field of international civil aviation, including: member of the EUROCONTROL Provisional Council and Alternate Member of the Minister of Infrastructure and Transport on the Agency’s Permanent Commission; Head of the Italian delegation to the General Assembly of the International Civil Aviation Organization for five triennial sessions (from 2009 to 2022); President of the Board of Foundation of the JAA TO (Joint Aviation Authorities – Training Organization); Vice-President of the ECAC (European Civil Aviation Conference); Focal Point for Facilitation and Security on the ECAC Coordination Committee; Focal Point for Economic Issues on the ECAC Coordination Committee, with particular reference to the management of COVID-19-related initiatives.
He is a member of the Scientific Committees of numerous journals, author of articles and publications, and speaker at various conferences on national and international air transport topics.
Since January 1st 2026 he is Secretary General of the Transport Regulatory Authority.
