Compliance of the new charging system of Rete Ferroviaria Italiana S.p.A.

The Authority approved – with related requirements – the information formats to be supplied by the infrastructure manager, pursuant to the provisions of the Recast Directive concerning the development and enhancement of the relevant network, as well as the associated experimental activities. The above-mentioned formats are aimed at providing railway undertakings with adequate information to allow a medium-long term planning and the definition of investment plans in accordance with the infrastructure development for each activity or experiment affecting the service of the railway undertakings.

In particular, the Authority imposed on the infrastructure manager to supplement the item concerning commercial benefits, in order to ensure the correlation to the investments on service facilities and provide for additional indicators aimed at specifying the performance targets of the commercial benefits (e.g. number of facilities equipped with water/electricity consumption measurement systems, changes in the surface of passenger waiting areas, cost variation for ordinary service operation, variation in customer satisfaction, expected variation with reference to commercial transport services, punctuality on the network).
